Ye Olde Book Shop. . .

Well, I missed my post by 2 minutes.
So, I won't get 31 posts in this month!

But then some of them weren't even read.

Here is my update on the Book Store.
I got a couple of books stitched.
They all have the gold in them
where the titles go.

I will do them last as soon as I
locate my gold of which I have many.
I never can remember where I put it.
It's like a block I can't remember ~ thus a
Block! Duh!

It's coming along and I didn't feel like
stitching today.
I didn't feel good when
I woke up but I did use the new vacuum
today anyway.

Quite nice actually!

A little
noisy but oh well at least it sucks!

I ate lunch and then took a nap.

Thanks for dropping by and seeing those few
books.
I think I should pile them up in one
window just like books are in ones
house.

God Bless your stitching fingers ~

Heaven . . . is a Book Store

My only daughter, Heather, lives in Cape Town, South Africa with her husband, Darren.
She also has three of my grandchildren
Samuel, Olivia and Elisha.
She is also pregnant with their forth child due, in November.

She does believe that Heaven is a
"Book Store".

When I went to Cape Town to visit
we were shopping together at the mall.
I told her I would run into this shop and she said "I'll
be in the book store".

Actually I think she said ~ "Oh, take your time ~ I'll be in the book store!"

When I got finished I walked into the book store
and her eyes were glazed over
and I knew she had gone to that special place.

She has been this way ever since she was a small child.

The last day I was there we went to the tip of Africa,
to a row of little shops.

We went into the book store,
because I knew she would
really want to go there,
and it smelled old.
Like it had old books
inside and it did.

She was in Heaven!

It also had a wooden
box of old post card that looked too interesting.
If I get to go back I want to go get some of those cards!

There were also a lot of old
map type plates that someone had framed.
They need to come to America!

So today when this chart I had ordered
for her came I decided to work on it.
Yes, I put Kokeshi away cause Heather
is coming home in June.

It is a Country Cottage Needleworks and it is called
"The Book Store".
Heather moved into a new house and upstairs is a room, the study, that is for her books.
The computer is
also up there and she spends
all her free time reading of which she has very little.

I can still remember the magic
I felt when I learned to read. I remember
thinking ~
"Now I can read, anything I want".

Of course, I was only 5 but that didn't matter to me.
Dick and Jane were just too interesting!

I plan to get the frame shown in the picture
and have it for her to take home.
I hope she will like it.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look
in the book store windows.
I will have them done
tomorrow.

As always God Bless your stitching fingers ~

Kokeshi biscornu . . .

Here is the progress on the cutest biscornu I have
ever stitched. She is just
so darn cute and I dearly
love her.
I have had a blast stitching on her and hope
to have it finished this
weekend.
I was planning to finally go see my oldest son who lives in Frisco, Tx. and
has two of the cutest kids, my darling grandchildren, but I can't leave my mom alone. My sister usually comes to stay with her but she was here last
weekend for Mother's Day. We were all going to lunch at a local place, my Mom's idea, but then as usual she didn't go. Big surprise.
I have been on vacation this week and strangely enough I have gotten very little stitching done. Let's just say it's been a week!

Thanks for coming by and checking out my sweet biscornu or not.
God Bless ~

Kokeshi biscornu . . .

I fell in love with this pattern the
very first time I saw it months ago.
Then I forgot about it as soon
as I saw it.
I was looking
for Stitch or Die and
remembered it was
probably a Barbara Ana
Design so I looked there.

Lo and Behold Kokeshi
was the first one that came up.

She has such an
adorable face
and I have
wanted to stitch her from
the first time I saw her.

This is my progress so far.
I had to take her hair out
because I was one row off.

The bun would have been
in the wrong place.

It was sorta hard to stitch in the
Midas car repair while I
was waiting for them to
replace the starter.

I had to have AAA come out and
together Ben and I got the car
started so I could take it to them.

They got it replaced and then
I had to take the car to Kwicker Sticker
and have the inspection done.

If I had been thinking Midas could have
done it because they do inspections, too.

The nice man at KS replaced a bulb
in the left hand back light or
it would not have passed inspection ~ again.

Two years ago I had to replace the right
back light bulb.
It's too creepy when it does it again,
just a different light.
But Micheal got it done for me Thank God.
That is how I spent my day and I didn't
get much stitching done. It's amazing how
much stitching I don't get done on my vacation!!!

I guess I should find a permanent
home for the frog with maybe a bed.
He could eat meals with us as
long as he wears a top hat
and carries a cane.

Maybe he can do a dance!

I wouldn't be upset if he just
danced himself right out the door.
Would he be missed?
I doubt it!!!

Thanks for lending your support and
dropping by to see my work. Your comments
mean the world to me.

Take care and as always God Bless ~

TUSAL . . .

This is the full jar sitting on top of the pile of shavings the
stump grinder left behind Monday.

I have four piles just like this one.

If I rake it all up
it will be gone, otherwise it will remain
just where it is now.
It was left for future planting.

This one is my TUSAL in the honeysuckle.
I emptied the jar and have already
put these threads into it for 5 months.

Unfortunately, the frog has spent
a lot of time at my house
disrupting my stitching.

These logs are what is left of the
three trees the electric
company in town cut down.
They also cut off half of another.

As usual, thanks for stopping by and looking.
God Bless ~

Whee ~

I used Six Strand Sweets
to do this tall skinny snow
man.
In the pattern he has no arms but who has ever seen a snowman with no arms I ask you?

I think the arms make him look sassy what do you think?

Like he is standing there daring
the wind to blow him over
cause he is so skinny!

He reminds me of the snowman I made in
New York when I was visiting my boyfriend.

Yes, the same jerk who would not give me
the Seaside Sweethearts cross stitch I
did for him when we broke up.

Anyhoo ~ it had snowed the night I got there
so the next morning in the windy freezing cold I
went out to build this snowman.

The snow was the dry kind and it was
very hard to get it to stick together.

After it snowed that night it rained and so
a crust formed on top of the snow.
I used a snow shovel to break through
the crust and get the fresh snow.
I used the shovel to move the snow
where I was building the snowman.

Then I would
scoop up some in my hands and blow
my breath on it and then
begin building.
I could only make him tall and
skinny cause I couldn't make him fat at all
the snow was too powdery.

I worked on him for two and a half hours and had
three tiers ~ head, stomach, and bottom.

Not much in the way of definition just
straight up and down.

He had pine cones for eyes and buttons,
sticks
for arms, see?, a scarf and a pipe in his mouth.

He Was Sooooooo cute, if I do say so myself!

After I froze my #*& off my boyfriend would
not even go out and take a picture of
the snowman and me together.

He is a true jerk to this day!!!

I enjoyed the snowman the whole time
I was there!

I dearly love snowmen!

The only thread that was different
was the Sampler Thread
it was all the white.

I don't like the way it stitched up at all.
I have never had any trouble with
Sampler Thread before this project.

The color is called Chalk.

Not crazy about the fabric either it is
32ct.
Lambswool
and the weave seems to be very
tight.

The snowman will probably be part of an
exchange down the line.

Guess I had better go to bed.
I am on vacation
this week so I am doing some stitching.

But, I started a new book, trashy, romance,
historical novel and it is one
I don't want to put down.

It is that good!!!

Tomorrow I have to take my mom
to get her hair done.
She desperately needs a permanent.

She got a bath today and I washed her
hair and rolled it up.
Boy is it long!

So for one day she has nice hair until
tomorrow.
Then she will have really
nice hair!

I went and had my nails done today and decided
I would do a pedicure, also.
Now I have
Aqua
colored toe nails.
They are so pretty I
do like the color of the nail polish.

Take care all ~ and Happy Stitching.

God Bless your stitching fingers!!!

Just talk . . .

Since my camera is not working at present
I will just talk. I had planned to show you
my finish on Time for God but the
fabric came out a teal color.
So I took pictures of another finish
I did today. A snowman but those
pictures, though it said they
were sent, are no where to be
found.

What to do?

I will take some more pictures
in better light and send them tomorrow.

Today the stump grinders came to the house
to grind down the stumps from the massive
cut down the other day.
TXU in Waco, Tx.
is building new huge towers to carry the
electric lines in Woodway.

So . . . they have to cut down certain trees
in the line of fire.
Our house had those trees.

So today they came back to finish the job.
It was surprising how quiet that machine was
at 9:00 this morning. It took until about
1:30 to finish.
The lady across the street
had 9 trees cut down.
Most of them were
huge trees about 20 to 30 inches in diameter
and 30 to 40 feet tall.

HUGE I say . . . huge!

It took this one man running the machine
hours to grind those stumps.

I can hardly wait for them to start the construction
of these huge towers to carry the wires.
It should be a real mess.

Take care all and God Bless your stitching fingers!!!

Random Thoughts. . .

This is the progress I have made
Mother's Day on Random Thoughts!

I outlined the house, did the "E"
the small tree trunk, and the large
tree trunk.
Sorta hard to see in this small picture.
The "F", rabbit, and the big "G".
The empty space beside the "F" is
where a key charm is stitched.

Every space will be a speciality stitch later.

My bird still needs legs, the
tree trunks will get leaves later.
They are done in speciality stitches.

I talked to my daughter today, she lives in
South Africa and she is 3 months pregnant.

Though she doesn't feel very good yet,
she and her family are excited about
this 4th blessing in their lives.

I just pray all goes well because she has
miscarried twice in the last year.
So say a
prayer for her and her family
that all goes well.

I am just sorry that I won't be
able to see
this child until who knows when.
She had all of her other three in Frisco, Tx.
I went and stayed
two weeks with her and Darren
when she had Samuel and took care of them.

Thanks for taking a peek.
Appreciate it so much.
God Bless ~
